RN Labor and Delivery NICU Pediatrics

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse with specialization in Labor & Delivery, Special Care Nursery, Pediatrics, and NICU is responsible for providing and coordinating patient care through assessment, evaluation, and treatment aimed at achieving wellness and recovery. This role involves clinical nursing duties, patient education, protocol implementation, and collaboration with the healthcare team to ensure high-quality patient outcomes. Responsibilities:

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate all aspects of patient care within scope of practice.
• Provide education to patients based on their individual needs.
• Transcribe, utilize, and implement physician orders and clinical protocols.
• Coordinate healthcare team activities and delegate tasks to ancillary personnel appropriately.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and interventions.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support department functions.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Current, valid Registered Nurse license from the State of Wyoming in good standing.
• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (required if performing circulating or recovery room duties for C-section).
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (required if caring for Pediatrics).
• Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification, maintained throughout employment on the Family Care Unit.
• Previous hospital experience preferred.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Completion of Intermediate Electronic Fetal Monitoring class within the first year after orientation.
• Completion of Advanced Electronic Fetal Monitoring class within three years of labor orientation.
• Strong customer service skills including tact, patience, empathy, and professionalism.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and solve problems effectively.
• Familiarity with computer software programs and electronic medical records.

Special Considerations:

• Must maintain all required certifications throughout employment.
• Work environment includes Labor & Delivery, Special Care Nursery, Pediatrics, and NICU units.
• Ethical and legal accountability for nursing practice is mandatory.
• May be required to work under supervision and collaborate closely with interdisciplinary team members.

Scheduling:

• Shift assignments and schedules are determined by department needs and may include day, night, or rotating shifts.
• Compliance with hospital scheduling policies and possible on-call duties as required.
