Position Summary

The Activities Coordinator plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for senior residents by planning, organizing, and facilitating engaging social, recreational, educational, and wellness-focused programs. This position promotes community involvement, social connection, and resident well-being while creating a welcoming and active living environment.

The ideal candidate is creative, organized, energetic, and passionate about working with older adults.

Key ResponsibilitiesProgram Planning & Implementation

• Develop, schedule, and lead daily, weekly, and monthly activities that support residents' physical, emotional, social, and cognitive well-being.
• Coordinate programs such as exercise classes, arts and crafts, educational workshops, movie nights, games, social gatherings, and holiday celebrations.
• Maintain and distribute an up-to-date activities calendar for residents and staff.

Resident Engagement

• Encourage resident participation through personal outreach and community announcements.
• Adapt activities to accommodate varying mobility levels, cognitive abilities, and individual interests.
• Build positive relationships with residents to better understand their preferences and needs.

Event Coordination

• Organize special events, guest speakers, entertainment programs, and volunteer-led activities.
• Coordinate transportation arrangements for off-site outings, when applicable.
• Manage event logistics, including setup, supplies, scheduling, and cleanup.

Administrative Responsibilities

• Track attendance, participation trends, and resident feedback.
• Maintain activity budgets and ensure adequate supplies are available.
• Accurately document activity-related expenses and funds.
• Ensure compliance with community policies and safety guidelines.

Community Partnerships

• Build relationships with local organizations, libraries, senior centers, schools, and nonprofit groups.
• Recruit and coordinate volunteers and outside activity facilitators.

QualificationsRequired

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with seniors in residential, recreational, healthcare, or social service settings.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Creativity, patience, and enthusiasm for working with older adults.
• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and email.
• Ability to lift and carry activity supplies and assist with event setup.

Preferred

• Education in Recreation Therapy, Gerontology, Social Services, or a related field.
• Activities or Recreation certification (ACA, CTRS, or equivalent).
• First Aid and CPR certification.
• Experience coordinating group activities or events.
