Mechanical & Electrical Maintenance Technician (Lugoff, SC) Location: Lugoff, SC Shift: 7pm - 7am | 36 hours one week, 48 the next week Job Summary: The Mechelec Technician supports the operation of a high-tech fiber optic cable manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing both mechanical and electrical systems to ensure continuous production and minimal downtime. This is a hands‑on industrial maintenance role working with automated production lines, extrusion equipment, and electrical control systems. Mechanical Responsibilities Maintain and repair production equipment such as: Extrusion lines Conveyors and rollers Motors, pumps, and gearboxes Perform preventative and predictive maintenance Diagnose mechanical failures and implement corrective actions Install and align new equipment and components Electrical Responsibilities Troubleshoot electrical systems, including: Control panels Sensors and instrumentation Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) Read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams Assist with PLC troubleshooting and system monitoring Repair and install electrical components and wiring Production Support Duties Observe equipment performance and identify inefficiencies Respond quickly to breakdowns to minimize production downtime Support continuous improvement initiatives Work closely with operators, engineers, and supervisors Safety & Compliance Follow OSHA and plant safety standards at all times Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures Maintain clean and safe work areas Ensure equipment meets operational and environmental standards Qualifications High school diploma or GED (technical certification preferred) 2+ years industrial maintenance experience (mechanical + electrical) Experience in manufacturing (preferred: fiber optics, plastics, or extrusion) Basic PLC knowledge (Allen‑Bradley or similar preferred) Skills & Competencies Strong troubleshooting ability across mechanical & electrical systems Ability to read blueprints and schematics Preventative maintenance mindset Team‑oriented with strong communication skills Ability to work in a fast‑paced production environment Physical Requirements Lift up to 50 lbs Stand, bend, climb, and work around machinery Work in a manufacturing environment with noise and heat Why work with Carolina Industrial Staffing?
