About the Position

Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical/Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years of MedSurg/Tele RN experience preferred License: Current Registered Nurse license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: General Med/Tele skill set including stroke experience and cardiac rhythm interpretation Description: We are seeking a MedSurg/Tele RN to join our resource team. This facility is a Level I Trauma and Teaching Client. It features a Chest Pain Center and a Stroke Center. The hospital is Magnet designated. The unit consists of 36 beds. Patient types often include sepsis, respiratory illnesses, GI disorders, infections, liver failure, and acute kidney injury/chronic kidney disease. Patient ratios are typically 1:5-6, dependent on acuity. Surge staffing may increase ratios up to 1:7-8. A CNA will be available, typically serving in a ratio of 1:9. Required skills include trach care, peripheral intravenous starts, chest tube management, nasogastric tube placement, and management of drains and tubes. Candidates should also be familiar with PCA pump management and medication drip management, including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and intravenous fluids. Support staff includes charge nurses, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists available 24/7. Telemetry monitoring is performed by nurses who read and respond to monitors directly. Floating may be required within the designated region and will be based on scope of practice. Travelers can expect to work every other weekend. Holiday expectations include working approximately 75% of holidays. Requests for time off can be approved for up to 6 days, excluding holidays. Scrub color is navy.
