Pharmacy Technician

Base Pay $12.00 - $17.00 / Hour Employee Type Non-Exempt PT Position Summary The Pharmacy Clerk is responsible for all clerical and administrative functions within the department. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Perform duties assigned by a licensed pharmacist. Areas of work are checked routinely for maintenance of quality control. Work is conducted in accordance with generally accepted standards of practice following departmental procedures and policies as outlined in the department operations manual. Read and interpret physician’s orders received in pharmacy an transcribe same onto pharmacy computer medication profile, requires knowledge to adjust dosing times as pharmacy will generate MAR’s, prepare unit doses, label individual patient envelopes for dispensing to the nursing unit; work verified by licensed pharmacist. Prepare in accordance with pharmacy law and standards of pharmacy practice, outpatient RX’s to be dispensed after pharmacist approval. Attend and participate in pharmacy tech meetings to exchange ideas in order to achieve goals of the department. Keep procedures up to date in pharmacy tech manual in order to train new personnel and have quick reference to specific jobs so they are performed according to the policies of the department. Check and remove outdates meds on a routine basis to ensure that no deteriorated meds are in stock. Keep records appropriate. Assist with billing by using appropriate computer function, reason codes and dates for charging and crediting as billing will need this information to be correct for reimbursement purposes. Assist with checking in orders, putting orders away and filing associated paperwork. Maintain competency in caring for patients of all age groups and developmental stages, and maintain competency as specifically indicated by orientation guidelines for a particular unit. Experience & Education Certificates, Licenses, Registrations – Obtain your Pharmacy Technician registration from the Mississippi Board of Pharmacy and renew annually Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, and/ or feel. Stand for long periods of time, walk , and regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee is required to communicate by speaking, the employee is required to listen to the needs of co-workers and/or customers and have the ability to write and communicate information to other co-workers. The employee is frequently required to climb on a small ladder, reach with hands and arms, frequent bending stooping and kneeling. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
