Duties

Help

The incumbent for this position will serve as an air conditioning mechanic and an electrician and to personally performed duties and responsibilities that requires skill in those trades.

Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:

• Installing and making repairs on large systems and various air conditioning systems.
• Installing, modifying, repairing, maintaining, troubleshooting, testing and loading new and existing lines, circuit systems and associated equipment.
• Assisting in the maintenance and repair of various mechanical systems.
• Perform related mechanical and trades tasks (e.g., support mechanical systems, maintain tools/equipment).
• Maintaining a safe and clean work environment.

Position requires "Universal Technician Certified" as required by CFR Part 82

Qualifications

Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience. Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope, and quality of all experience and training, regardless of where or how acquired.

Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements:

• Ability to do the work of a Maintenance Mechanic without more than normal supervision (SCREEN OUT ELEMENT)
• Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.
• Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic).
• Use of Measuring Instruments.
• Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading).
• Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment
• Knowledge of Materials.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Student Loan - Selectee(s) for this position who are newly appointed to a permanent or term position may be eligible for student loan repayment up to $10,000 (pre-tax) for one calendar year.
