Mechanical QA/QC Lead Frankfurt, Germany | Data Centre | Mechanical Cooling / Air Conditioning Package On a data centre project, mechanical quality cannot be left until the end. By the time issues show up during commissioning, they are no longer small quality problems. They become programme problems, client problems and commercial problems. That is why this role matters. Morson is supporting a founder‑led specialist data centre delivery business that is building its core team around mechanical infrastructure across Europe. The business has been launched by an established entrepreneur with a strong track record in construction and engineering delivery. It is not a huge corporate structure, and this is not a role where you become another person in a large quality department. The immediate requirement is for a Mechanical QA/QC Lead to support the delivery of a significant air conditioning / cooling package on a major data centre project in Frankfurt. The package value is expected to sit around €5m-€10m, with mobilisation planned for November. Due to the project location and mobilisation requirements, candidates must hold an EU passport or already have unrestricted right to work in Germany / the EU. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role. THE PROJECT You will be joining a Frankfurt data centre project focused on mechanical cooling and air conditioning systems. The package will suit someone who has been close to mechanical installation, inspection, testing, documentation and handover on live data centre projects. Relevant experience could include: HVAC and cooling systems Chilled water systems CRAH / CRAC units Mechanical plant and distribution Pipework installation Bracketry, supports and containment interface Valve sets, pumps, AHUs and associated equipment Pressure testing Flushing and cleaning Equipment inspections Mechanical completion Commissioning readiness Turnover and handover documentation This is not just a paperwork role. You will need to understand what good mechanical installation looks like on site, know where quality issues usually appear, and have the confidence to challenge problems before they are built into the programme. THE ROLE As Mechanical QA/QC Lead, you will take ownership of quality across the mechanical cooling package. You will work closely with the project team, subcontractors, client representatives and commissioning teams to make sure works are installed, inspected, tested and documented to the required standard. The role will cover: Leading mechanical QA/QC activity across the cooling / air conditioning package Reviewing and implementing inspection and test plans Planning inspections around site progress and programme requirements Managing inspection records, test packs and quality documentation Carrying out site walks and identifying installation issues early Coordinating with subcontractors to ensure works are completed to specification Tracking NCRs, defects, snags and close-out actions Supporting pressure testing, flushing, cleaning and mechanical completion activities Managing punch lists and ensuring actions are closed properly Ensuring documentation is accurate, complete and ready for turnover Working with commissioning teams to reduce late-stage quality issues Attending quality meetings and reporting progress, risks and blockers Helping shape quality standards and processes as the business grows WHO THIS WILL SUIT This will suit a Mechanical QA/QC Lead who understands that quality on a data centre project is not just about finding defects. It is about protecting the package before defects become delays. You may currently be working for a major contractor, MEP contractor, mechanical subcontractor or HVAC specialist. This role gives you the chance to join a growing specialist business early, work closely with leadership, and help set the quality culture properly from the start. The right person will be comfortable walking the site, challenging standards, managing documentation, working with subcontractors and supporting the project team without turning QA/QC into a box‑ticking exercise. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED We are looking for someone currently working as a: Mechanical QA/QC Lead Mechanical QA/QC Engineer Mechanical Quality Lead Mechanical Quality Engineer Mechanical Completion Lead Mechanical Supervisor with strong QA/QC experience You should have: Strong mechanical bias Data centre project experience Experience working on cooling, HVAC, chilled water, CRAH, CRAC, air conditioning or similar mechanical infrastructure packages Experience with ITPs, inspections, test packs and quality documentation Understanding of mechanical completion, commissioning readiness and turnover requirements Experience managing NCRs, defects, snags, punch lists and close‑out Ability to work closely with subcontractors and challenge poor installation standards Strong site presence and attention to detail Confidence dealing with project teams, client representatives and commissioning teams EU passport or unrestricted right to work in Germany / the EU Experience with major data centre contractors, MEP contractors or specialist HVAC / cooling businesses would be highly relevant.
