TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified Med/Surg RN in Long Beach, California, 90813!

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS Certification Must-Have: Candidates must be available to work 2 or 3 major holidays. RTO must be kept to a minimum. Must be able to read strips when floated to Med/Tele Floor. Description: Unit has 46 beds. Certifications required include BLS; chemo certification preferred. Patient-to-nurse ratio is 5:1. Electronic medical record system used is Cerner. Charge nurses do not have patient assignments. Nurse aides are available with a ratio of 1:12 during the day and 1:14 at night. Every other weekend is required. Holidays are to be rotated with core staff. Scrub color for registered nurses is navy blue; aides wear hunter green. Telemetry is not available. Nurses will float to MedSurg and Tele within their skill set. Common diagnoses and types of patients include pneumonia, COPD, diabetes, ESRD, cellulitis, GI issues, gunshot wounds, stab wounds, and neuro issues related to trauma. Clientists and intensivists are in-house. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7. Pharmacy services are available 24/7. Shifts are from 0630 to 1900 and from 1830 to 0700. Nurse's read strips is not required, but skills are needed when floating to MedSurg 5 and Tele. The unit utilizes drips such as heparin and blood, and while vents are not available, bipap and cpap may be used at night. Floor-specific orientation consists of one shift with a preceptor. The hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment. Charting system used is Cerner. BSN is not required. Trauma level is acute. Care setting is acute.
