Registered Nurse General Surgery Neuro

Mission Health, based in Asheville, NC, is seeking a Registered Nurse for our General Surgery Neuro service line within our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you will provide safe, evidence-based, and compassionate nursing care to adult patients undergoing general surgery and neurosurgical procedures, as well as those requiring post-operative and neuro-focused medical management. You will perform comprehensive assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, administer medications and treatments, and closely monitor patients for changes in condition, intervening promptly and collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to optimize outcomes.
As a Registered Nurse in General Surgery Neuro, you will coordinate patient care from admission through discharge, including pre-operative and post-operative education, pain management, wound care, neuro assessments, and discharge planning to support a safe transition of care. You will communicate clearly with surgeons, hospitalists, anesthesiologists, therapists, case management, patients, and families to ensure a patient-centered approach. You will utilize critical thinking and clinical judgment to prioritize and manage a dynamic caseload, respond to emergencies, and advocate for patient safety and quality outcomes.
You will be responsible for accurately documenting assessments, interventions, and responses in the electronic health record, adhering to hospital policies, regulatory standards, and professional nursing practice guidelines. You will support and precept new team members and nursing students as appropriate, contributing to a collaborative and respectful culture that emphasizes teamwork, integrity, and continuous professional growth.
