About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: ICU Duration: 12 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: GA or Compact license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Must-Have: - Experience caring for adults and geriatric patients - Ability to care for ventilated patients - Experience with central line care and management - Familiarity with acute stroke management - Experience with high flow nasal cannula (HFNC) - Competence in interpreting and managing dysrhythmias Description: This position requires a minimum of 2 years of experience in an ICU setting. Candidates with experience in critical care are preferred. The patient population includes adults to geriatrics. General diagnoses include ARDS, sepsis, stroke, STEMI, DKA, post-operative complications, cardiogenic shock, gastrointestinal bleeding, COPD exacerbation, encephalopathy, liver failure, drug overdose, and end-stage renal disease on continuous renal replacement therapy. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2-3, and candidates should be prepared for the possibility of taking a 3rd patient. The unit has a total of 24 rooms with an average daily census of 19 patients. Floating within the facility is required as needed within the scope of practice. Weekend coverage is required every other weekend unless specified otherwise. Travelers are expected to work holiday shifts if they fall within their assignment period. Compliance with onboarding requirements is necessary for timely start. Clinical screens will be conducted to determine fit, and all candidates must pass the screening process to proceed. Additional skills required include care for post-cardiac surgery and post-neurosurgery management. Familiarity with electronic medical record systems is preferred. The unit supports interdisciplinary collaboration with teams including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. Candidates should be prepared for a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
