Examiner Physician Assistant

As an Examiner, you will conduct Compensation & Pension (C&P) examinations for Veterans applying for disability compensation from the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA). The role involves reviewing claims, performing focused assessments of claimed injuries, reviewing medical records, and rendering medical opinions based on record review and completed C&P exams. These Evaluations are critical to the VA’s process for determining benefits Veterans can receive as a result of service‑connected health issues. Clinical insights enable access to treatment subspecialists and ensure continuity of care. Clinical Examiners will use a web‑based examination form in a proprietary online system to capture patient information throughout the examination process. Candidates must hold an active license, work independently and collaboratively, possess strong interpersonal skills, and adapt to changing situations. Basic computer skills are required. Pay: Base + Monthly Incentive = $127,171–$157,171 per year. Job Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive medical disability examinations, including reviewing medical history, performing physical examinations, and assessing the impact of disabilities on daily life and functional abilities. Review and analyze medical records, diagnostic test results, and other documentation to gain a comprehensive understanding of the Veteran’s medical history and health condition. Render objective medical opinions based on examination findings, diagnostic results, and record review, outlining the extent of health issues and their impact on work and daily activities. Utilize the case management system to organize workload, submit findings, and correspond with the Quality Assurance team. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, specialists, and experts to obtain additional medical information and insights for a thorough evaluation. Document examination findings accurately in medical opinions and recommendations, following VA guidelines and contractual obligations. Partner with all Loyal Source departments to gain support and utilize resources for task completion and deadline management. Manage time efficiently, ensure availability, and schedule C&P exams in a timely manner. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and standards related to disability examinations, maintaining accuracy, fairness, and quality. Maintain and comply with all VA training requirements and stay updated on VA MDE program requirements. Safeguard patient confidentiality in accordance with privacy and security protocols, including annual HIPAA compliance assessment. Qualifications Graduated from an accredited Physician Assistant program and possess a valid, unrestricted PA license in all 50 States, the District of Columbia, or other U.S. jurisdictions. At least 1 year of experience working as a Physician Assistant. Preferred experience in conducting medical disability examinations or a related field. Basic Life Support certification required, with renewals. Previous military experience or familiarity with military or veteran communities preferred. Completion of specialized training or continuing education in Medical Disability Evaluations, occupational health, or related areas is advantageous. Demonstrated proficiency in comprehensive medical assessments, diagnostic interpretation, and evidence‑based opinion formulation. Compassionate and empathetic approach toward patients, ensuring a respectful, patient‑centered evaluation process. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to interpret complex medical information. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey complex medical concepts clearly. Commitment to ethical standards, objectivity, and fairness. Detail‑oriented mindset focused on accuracy, data quality, and alignment with LS and VA standards. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team. Excellent organizational and time‑management skills to handle multiple initiatives and adapt to changing priorities. Strong customer focus and a sense of urgency. Authorized to work in the United States, including compliance with federal contractor requirements. Reasoning Ability Apply common sense to carry out detailed instructions and address problems involving several variables. Technological Ability Competent in MS Word, MS Outlook, Adobe PDF, web‑based platforms, and electronic medical records systems. Familiarity with Teams and web‑based learning management systems preferred. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods standing and sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds, see, hear, smell, bend, stretch, and engage in full range of motion to conduct comprehensive examinations safely. Travel Requirements 10% travel required to support other LSGS Clinics. Additional travel for training or company events may be requested.
