Senior Design Engineer- HVAC

Kelly Engineering has partnered with an industry leader experiencing dynamic growth to recruit a Senior Design Engineer (HVAC) for a direct-hire opportunity in the greater Pittsburgh, PA area. This position offers a very competitive salary plus profit sharing, a hybrid work schedule and relocation assistance if needed.

The Senior Design Engineer will lead engineering and project management activities for the design, application, and customer-order engineering of Data Center Cooling systems. The role supports the full product lifecycle—from design development and vendor oversight through manufacturing, assembly, testing, installation, and service.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead product engineering activities for Data Center and IT cooling products.
• Develop and oversee vendor preparation of design drawings, specifications, and bills of materials for customer orders and manufacturing and assembly operations.
• Provide technical expertise in developing and reviewing customer proposals.
• Serve as the lead technical liaison among customers, vendors, and helping ensure the technical needs of all parties are met.
• Provide technical leadership on assembly and testing techniques, including process advantages and limitations that inform long-range plant and product engineering plans.
• Research and analyze operational test data to establish performance standards and verify that designs meet functional and performance specifications.
• Support Manufacturing and Quality Assurance in resolving design-related production issues.
• Coordinate product design with listing agencies to secure product listings, such as UL.
• Evaluate project and product risks, escalating them to the supervisor and senior management when appropriate.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering discipline
• 5+ years of design engineering experience
• Advanced knowledge of HVAC products (data center experience not required)
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers, employees, contractors, and vendors.
• Ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
