Design Engineer (Mechanical/Industrial) - Houston, TX (Onsite)

Our client, a growing manufacturer serving the industrial process and energy sectors, is seeking a Design Engineer to join their Houston-based team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer looking to gain hands-on experience working closely with engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams on custom-engineered products.

Responsibilities

Create and revise detailed engineering and fabrication drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
Support the design and development of engineered products used in industrial and process applications.
Perform engineering calculations and technical evaluations to support product design and customer requirements.
Collaborate with sales, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure designs meet customer specifications and industry standards.
Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including drawings, procedures, inspection plans, and project deliverables.
Assist with troubleshooting production and installation challenges by working directly with shop personnel and project stakeholders.
Review customer specifications and ensure project requirements are accurately incorporated into designs.
Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to maintaining engineering templates and design libraries.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
1-4 years of engineering experience in manufacturing, fabrication, industrial equipment, process systems, or a related industry.
Proficiency with SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
Strong understanding of engineering drawings, manufacturing processes, and technical documentation.
Familiarity with ASME codes, pressure-containing equipment, piping systems, or industrial products is a plus.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with multiple departments.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel.

Preferred Experience

Exposure to pressure vessels, piping systems, flow measurement equipment, or other engineered industrial products.
Experience working in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
Familiarity with engineering calculation software is a plus.
