Registered Nurse - Surgical Services

Schedule

This role requires 4, 10-hour rotating shifts from 08:00 AM to 06:30 PM. Weekend shifts of 12 hours are also required, with on-call duties once per week.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse is a clinical practitioner responsible for coordinating and implementing patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the assigned units. This role ensures that quality care is provided efficiently and safely, consistent with the unit's standards of care. The RN demonstrates effective work habits and clinical practice, treating staff, physicians, patients, and families with consideration and respect.

Responsibilities

• Obtains and records initial assessments, establishing priorities based on patient age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs.
• Reassesses patients systematically to identify progress and trends requiring intervention.
• Develops and implements measurable individualized plans of care within the established timeline.
• Makes comprehensive nursing decisions based on the interpretation of facts and evaluations of patient outcomes, modifying the care plan as necessary.
• Participates in patient and family education as well as discharge planning.
• Implements and documents timely interventions tailored to patient needs.
• Performs various Point of Care testing procedures as required.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current New Mexico RN license or equivalent Compact state license.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications via AHA required.
• Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program.
• Knowledge and skills appropriate to the age and type of patient population served.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with consideration for the developmental age of the patient.
