Positional Overview

The Imagine Group is recruiting for an HIM Educator/Auditor (Outpatient) on behalf of our client, a leading healthcare system in Buffalo, New York , providing comprehensive medical services through a network of hospitals, primary care practices, and specialty facilities. With a strong focus on compassionate, patient-centered care, it is committed to improving community health through quality treatment, advanced technology, and a mission-driven approach.

In this role, you will monitor and perform audits of coded data for accuracy based on documentation in the medical record and through these audits will ensure that medical records are coded and billed in accordance with coding conventions, billing rules and Federal and State regulations. The Educator/Auditor will also provide timely education and feedback for Physicians, Coding and CDEI associate with regards to quarterly coding updates, as well as updates to the Medicare, New York and APR-DRG grouper logic. The Educator will provide mentoring for new coding staff. The Educator/Auditor will also assist with the coding standardization of workflow redesign for Soarian Financials, ECW, Meditech and eHIM.

• Evidence of coding competency
• Thorough knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, Evaluation and Management (E/M), anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, APC’s, and Outpatient referred coding requirements
• Demonstrated ability to work closely with associates, medical staff, Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) leadership and staff, department managers, and Finance
• Superior written and interpersonal communication skills

Skills & Experience

Qualifications That Will Help You Thrive

• Three (3) years of coding experience utilizing electronic encoders/references, and compliance software, is required
• CPC, CPC-P, RHIT, or CCS is required
• CEMC is preferred
• Travel frequently to multiple sites to work with Clinic Manager, Physicians and with Educator/Analyst.
• NYS driver’s license and transportation are required.
• Occasional change in work schedule to accommodate project implementation, auditing, meetings, or other departmental concerns.
