Work Environment

Key Responsibilities
- Direct physical therapy treatment towards the prevention of disability and the relief of pain.
- Develop, improve, and restore muscle function through personalized therapy strategies aligned with the treatment plan.
- Oversee and guide physical therapy assistants to ensure the effective implementation of care plans.
- Conduct thorough evaluations of clients’ physical capabilities, using assessment tools to analyze muscle, nerve, and joint functions.
- Assess clients' home environments to recommend modifications that promote independence in daily activities.
- Administer therapeutic exercises and treatments as prescribed, including manual therapy techniques and the application of physical agents such as traction and massage.
- Evaluate, fit, and make recommendations regarding prosthetic and orthotic devices.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop, review, and update comprehensive care plans.
- Monitor and document client progress, reporting any changes in conditions to the appropriate medical staff.
- Prepare detailed clinical records, including evaluations, care plans, and discharge summaries, ensuring they meet regulatory and agency standards.
- Conduct functional assessments onsite to evaluate treatment effectiveness and community resource utilization.
- Maintain timely communication with clients, families, and health agency personnel.
- Supervise Physical Therapy Assistants in their duties as outlined by state regulations.
- Take on additional assignments as needed to support organizational goals.

Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program is required.
- Minimum of one year of experience in a physical therapy role, preferably in a rehabilitation or home care setting.
- Current licensure as a Physical Therapist in Virginia, in good standing.
- Valid CPR certification and a clean driver’s license with auto insurance.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and creative thinking in developing therapeutic strategies.

Preferred Experience
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary team setting.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems for documenting patient care.
