CYS Specialist (School Liaison Services) NF-04.

Duties Serves as the school liaison officer (SLO) with responsibility for the oversight of all installation Child and Youth Services (CYS) issues involving public schools and its relationship to the local military community. Functions as an intermediary between and advocate for parents/youth and school administrators. Assesses needs and serves as the focal point for gathering and disseminating information concerning the local schools. Works closely with the Youth Education Liaison Services (YELS) Specialist and other CYS staff to successfully integrate CYS initiatives programs with school resources to meet the needs of constituents. Serves as a member of the Installation Child and Youth Evaluation Team to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and CYS baseline standards, ensuring the program contributes to achieving and maintaining DoD certification. Serves as Subject Matter Expert on installation child and youth SLS. Prepares reports, surveys, and briefings for command and installation on matters pertaining to SLS. Procures supplies and equipment to support program goals and objectives. Conditions of Employment Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required. Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. A one‑year probationary period may be required. Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E‑Verify) check. Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre‑employment checks in accordance with AR 215‑3, para.2 to include a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation. The Crime Control Act must be successfully completed and maintained. Successful completion of Foundation and Annual CYS Management Training is required. Travel to on‑ and off‑post locations required. Must have a current health assessment which documents good mental and physical health, freedom from communicable disease, and immunizations in accordance with current Army and DoD policy to include annual influenza vaccinations. Qualifications Successful completion of a four‑year college or university degree with a major course of study directly related to a CYS field: early childhood, elementary, secondary, special education, child/youth development, psychology, youth program administration, or a closely related field such as social work, home economics, physical education or related behavioral sciences. Or a combination of education and experience—courses equivalent to a major in a subject matter field (24 semester hours) plus appropriate experience or additional coursework that provided knowledge comparable to the successful completion of the four‑year degree described above. Minimum twenty‑four (24) months work experience in a child/youth or public school child/youth program. Program administration experience in child and youth programs. Ability to plan and organize work, analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing in English. Physical ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs, walk, bend, stoop, and stand on a routine basis. Education Proof of education is required at the time of application. Education must be directly related to the position to be filled; general education courses do not count toward the credit total. Area of Consideration This job is open to candidates who reside within a 50‑mile radius of the local commuting area of Fort Knox, KY, including Military Spouse Preference (MSP) and Involuntarily Separated Military Preference (ISMP) eligible candidates. Benefits and Allowances This job is part of a pay‑banded system. Sunday premium pay for regularly scheduled employees and night differential pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. Non‑foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid. Regular full‑time and part‑time employees are eligible for enrollment in health and life insurance, participation in 401(k) and retirement plans, and paid personal time off and federal holidays. Flexible employees, working in the United States or a U.S. citizen or spouse or child of a U.S. citizen working for a NAFI in a foreign area, are eligible for the NAF 401(k) plan; some flexible employees may also be eligible to receive health insurance. Access to certain federal facilities may require a REAL ID‑compliant driver’s license/ID (marked with a star) or an Enhanced Driver’s License (EDL) from WA, MI, MN, NY, or VT. #J-18808-Ljbffr
