Job Overview Fairview Range is looking for a Patient Access Coordinator I to join our care team at the Fairview Mesaba Clinic in Hibbing, MN! The Patient Access Coordinator I (PAC I) performs clerical tasks such as answering phones and processing paperwork. The Patient Access Coordinator I performs Registration/Scheduling duties along with necessary clerical/secretarial duties. Must be able to perform multiple tasks at same time and demonstrate excellent customer service skills at all times. Schedule: This position will work 72 to 80 hours per two weeks. The shift length will be 8-hours on the day/evening shift. Weekends: As needed. This position will be primarily based in Hibbing but may provide coverage in Nashwauk and Mountain Iron as needed. - 60+ service lines
- Primary care includes over 20 providers and more than 50 support staff that see patients in Hibbing, Mt. Iron, and Nashwauk.
- Specialty care includes over 35 providers and more than 40 support staff that see patients in Hibbing and Mt. Iron.
- Specialty departments include surgical services, orthopedics, OB/GYN, ENT, allergy, wound care, podiatry, and more.
- Care team includes Physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, RN Care Coordinators, RNs, LPNs, MAs, Patient Access Coordinators
- Hospital-based clinic system
- Perform Registration and Scheduling Specialist duties.
- Answer the phone in a courteous, efficient manner within an established time frame.
- Collects and verifies all patient data from patients and enter into the EMR accurately.
- Coordinate and schedules patient appointments according to scheduling approved flow.
- Hours vary and you may be asked to open and close the facility and/or float to another site.
- Collect, data entry, register, and schedules workers compensation, TPL, Auto Accident claims by following the approved flow.
- Performs additional related responsibilities as required or assigned.
- Collects payments, closes batch at each night prior to leaving.
- Work with our customer service reps to help patients with any balances.
- Process disability, accident, etc. forms.
- Answer questions presented by patients regarding their accounts, insurance questions etc.
- Listen and gather patient complaints and enters into our complaints database.
- Assist Care team (nurse, PAC II, and physician) whenever possible with many numerous tasks to ensure an excellent patient experience.
- Order supplies for the department.
- Willingness to keep up with constant insurance plan changes.
- Perform other duties as assigned
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Verifiable work experience with computers, typing, and telephone duties.
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Experience in Registration and Scheduling
- Experience with insurance verification
- Understanding of various health insurance plans
- Certified Revenue Cycle Specialist
