Special Education Instructional Health Assistant (Lebanon Junction Elementary School 2026-2027) - District Wide Starting Date: Aug 7, 2026 Job Description Responsible for assisting teachers and schools with providing assistance in classroom instruction, student behavioral support, and supporting the health care needs of students during the school day in accordance with state laws and district regulations. School placement and schedule are evaluated periodically and determined based on need. The initial placement for the 2026-2027 school year is Lebanon Junction Elementary School, to provide individualized support for students who are Moderately to Severely Disabled (MSD). Position Details Hours: 6.25 hours per day (plus a 30‑minute unpaid lunch) Contract Length: 183 days per year 170 student instructional days 4 holidays 7 planning days 2 extended days Contract Adjustments: Contracted days will be prorated based on the start date. Employment Status: Full‑time with benefits Employment Type: 10‑month employee on the classified pay schedule Qualifications & Requirements Education: Must meet one of the following: 48 college semester hours, an Associate’s Degree, or a high school diploma plus a passing score on the Paraeducator Assessment Exam. Documentation: Candidates must provide proof of educational requirements to HR upon recommendation for hire. Citizenship: Citizenship, residency or work visa required. Compensation & Experience Credit Salary for the 2026-2027 school year will be based on the Board‑approved salary schedule. Starting Pay (Step 0): $15.98/hour Experienced Pay (Step 10): $19.67/hour New hires may bring up to 10 years of comparable, full‑time, verified experience. The hired applicant is responsible for submitting the BCPS Verification of Experience Form to prior employers for completion and return to HR. Payroll Note While this is an hourly position, the salary is distributed via a year‑long contract over 10 months. You will receive 4 paychecks at the end of June. Salary Formula: Hours per day × Hourly rate = Daily rate; Daily rate × Contracted days = Annual salary; Annual salary ÷ Remaining pay periods = Gross biweekly pay.
