Maintenance Group Leader, Coating and Bonding - Crew C

Shift Schedule

Crew C: Monday and Tuesday, 7:00 PM to 5:30 AM, and Friday and Saturday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM

Position Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced and hands-on Maintenance Group Leader, Coating & Bonding to oversee maintenance operations within a highly automated manufacturing environment. This leader will be responsible for supporting coating processes, thin film/e-coat systems, conveyance equipment, sealer systems, robotic bonding cells, breakdown management, and root cause analysis efforts.

The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership while driving safety, equipment reliability, production uptime, and continuous improvement initiatives across the operation.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of maintenance technicians.
• Establish clear performance expectations and ensure compliance with safety standards, including LOTO, PPE, and standard operating procedures.
• Foster a culture focused on safety, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
• Coordinate maintenance resources to support production goals and minimize downtime.

Maintenance & Reliability

• Plan, execute, and continually improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, PLC, robotics, and vision system issues.
• Lead equipment installations, rebuilds, upgrades, alignments, and rigging activities.
• Review and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, and engineering drawings.
• Monitor and improve key maintenance metrics including MTBF, MTTR, and maintenance backlog.

Continuous Improvement

• Lead root cause analysis investigations and implement sustainable corrective actions.
• Partner with Production, Engineering, and Operations teams to improve equipment performance and reliability.
• Drive TPM, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Recommend long-term equipment reliability improvements, facility upgrades, and capital investments.

Vendor & Project Management

• Manage contractor and vendor activities, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and performance standards.
• Oversee vendor quotations, project scheduling, and execution of capital improvement projects.
• Manage maintenance budgets, spare parts inventories, and critical spare strategies.
• Ensure accurate documentation of work orders, maintenance activities, and downtime events within CMMS systems.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
• Minimum of 8 years of industrial maintenance experience.
• Minimum of 2 years of leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with: 
  • Conveyors
  • Bearings, seals, shafts, and rotating equipment
  • Hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Pipefitting systems
  • Welding and fabrication
  • Machining and mechanical repair
  • Rigging and material handling equipment
• Experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment, robotics, and electrical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
• Proven ability to lead and develop multi-skilled maintenance teams.
• Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Experience utilizing TPM, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and continuous improvement methodologies.

Additional Requirements

• Ability to work off-shifts, weekends, and overtime as required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CMMS platforms.
• Experience managing vendors, contractors, budgets, and capital projects.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional certifications in maintenance, safety, leadership development, or Six Sigma.
• Forklift and aerial lift certifications, or the ability to obtain certification.
• Prior experience supporting automated coating, bonding, or paint systems in a manufacturing environment.

Compensation

Target salary range: $108,877 - $163,316 annually
