Aquarist | Marine Biologist

Department: Service Position is: Exempt Reports to: Service Manager Company Introduction: Something Fishy is leading the industry with design, installation and managing aquatic exhibits in the New England Market. Their clients include Yale New Haven Health, Google, Mystic Aquarium, The State of CT, Shark Ninja, The Massachusetts Audubon, and many other fun clients. The team at Something Fishy is looking for an ambitious new team member to support & strengthen strong brand identity with its highly energetic and visually stimulating products and services. Learn more: Position Description Service Aquarists are responsible for installing and maintaining amazing aquarium exhibits in commercial and residential client locations. They are responsible for the overall health, functionality, and aesthetics of these exhibits. While transitioning to a full route, technicians will work on any and all work needed within the company. This can include but is not limited to, installs, in house plumbing, playcard writing, services on the road and emergency calls. General hours are 8-5 M-F but can change based on company needs. Work on Sat/Sun is possible but extremely rare. They are also responsible for maintaining a fun and positive relationship with clients. Principal Duties & Responsibilities: Driving company vehicle to client locations Cleaning of aquarium exhibits General aquatic husbandry Life support system (LSS) maintenance Installation of LSS equipment/PVC plumbing Customer relations Being on a rotating emergency call schedule Assisting with in-house husbandry as needed Required Skills Performing these tasks requires excellent time management, attention to detail, problem solving ability, and interpersonal skills. The Service Aquarist must be able to function in a fast-paced environment with a malleable schedule. Must also have a valid driver’s license and ability to lift 50lbs. Experience with aquariums required degree in associated field preferred. Pay & Benefits This is a full-time position with 40hr/week minimum guaranteed. Pay starts at $20/hr with salary range reaching $42,000 - $55,000 within 12-18 months based on experience and performance.
