Position Title:

Lab Supervisor

As a Lab Supervisor for Univar, you will establish and maintain quality control measures ensuring product integrity throughout the Univar distribution process.  Test products for chemical content and measures against established specifications.  You will provide technical chemical information to customers, suppliers and staff.  Use problem solving techniques to work with different departments and organizations to solve customer related issues/questions.  Monitors the repackaging of chemical products for resale; provide quality control for bulk and chemical products; and prepares solutions and reagents as needed.  Follows established Univar quality and lab procedures.  Performers and manages within cGMP, FDA, USP, FCC, HACCP and other external regulations

WHAT YOU’LL DO: 

• Oversee all laboratory operations to support customer product deliveries
• Test and confirm chemical solutions and special reagents to specifications for resale
• Conducts quality checks for all bulk chemical receipts and shipments
• Conducts quality checks for all repackaged material samples
• Monitors lab equipment and maintains qualification and calibration records
• Act as branch quality coordinator
• Address Customer complaints through UQIPs (Univar Quality Improvement Process)
• Lead Quality and FDARP meetings
• HACCP Coordinator
• Provides technical knowledge to salesmen and customers regarding special chemical products and related matters as needed
• Prepare customer required samples and blended samples
• Keeps informed of new equipment and developments in the repackaging of chemicals
• Keeps informed of new quality requirements
• Review potential new products for repackaging or facility storage Provides guidance to include testing, possible quality and safety issues
• Keeps SOP’s up to date with current regulations and prepares and submits reports and procedures as directed
• Verify quality control and resolve discrepancies
• Develop methods of analysis and synthesize potential products

WHAT YOU’LL NEED: 

• Must be able to work under Company policies where experience and independent judgment are needed
• Must have extensive knowledge of chemical products, repackaging process, familiar with State and Federal labeling requirements, and ability to prepare special chemical products
• Must have extensive knowledge of cGMPs, FDA requirements, GDPs, and GLPs
• Should have own initiative and understanding
• Must be able to operate and work with laboratory equipment
• Must be able to work with and secure the cooperation of others
• Must be proficient at in the following software programs… Excel, Power point and Word
• Preferred 4 year degree in some form of Chemistry or equivalent chemical laboratory experience
• Must be proficient at in the following software programs… Excel, Power point and Word
• Good Communicator (verbal/email)
• One to three years experience in the preparation of chemical products
• Exposure to come adverse and undesirable environmental conditions.  Some safety risks when doing analysis.
• May require safety equipment and precautions. 
• Potential exposure to hazardous substances.
