Position Description Department of Theatre and Dance at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) invites highly qualified, motivated, and well‑organized applicants for a pool of part‑time teaching appointments. The Position The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, with positions filled as needed based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid‑December; the Spring term begins mid‑January and ends in mid‑May. Opportunities for teaching during Summer Sessions may also be available. Responsibilities Teach assigned lower and upper‑division courses in the department’s curriculum and serve weekly office hours based on assigned teaching unit load. Courses may include all levels of acting, theatrical design and technology, and related theatre courses. Qualifications Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in the field relevant to the curriculum or a related discipline. Prior teaching experience at the college or university level with evidence of strong teaching. Experience in teaching and working with colleagues from diverse ages, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree or MFA in Theatre or a related discipline and prior college‑level teaching experience, including relevant industry experience. Employment Requirement Satisfactory completion of a background check, including a criminal records check, is required for employment. Additional Information Initial rank and salary for the lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank.
