Position Overview

The Controls & Automation Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing, and optimizing highly automated production equipment within a fast-paced manufacturing environment! This role supports plant operations by ensuring automation systems, PLCs, robotics, sensors, and electrical controls are operating efficiently to minimize downtime and maximize production output.

This individual will work closely with maintenance, engineering, and production teams to diagnose equipment issues, complete preventative maintenance, and improve machine reliability. The ideal candidate is hands-on, technically strong, and able to troubleshoot complex automation systems in a manufacturing environment.

Schedule

AWS (Alternating Work Schedule)

• Day Shift: 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM
• Night Shift: 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM
• Includes rotating weekends and extended shifts

Night shift includes a $2.50/hour shift premium.

Compensation

• $35 to $40/hour depending on experience
• Quarterly bonus opportunity for hourly employees

Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment and automation systems
• Diagnose electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues on production equipment
• Support robotics, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, drives, and automated systems
• Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on highly automated machinery
• Analyze machine downtime and identify root causes to improve equipment reliability
• Assist with equipment upgrades, installations, and automation improvements
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic, and technical manuals
• Partner with operations and engineering teams to minimize production interruptions
• Respond quickly to emergency breakdowns and production support needs
• Maintain accurate maintenance and repair documentation
• Ensure compliance with all safety and quality standards

Qualifications

• Previous experience in controls, automation, or industrial electrical maintenance within manufacturing
• Strong PLC troubleshooting experience required
• Experience with automated production equipment and industrial controls
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems up to industrial manufacturing standards
• Experience with robotics, automation systems, and machine controls preferred
• Ability to read electrical schematics and ladder logic
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Strong communication and teamwork skills

Preferred Experience

• Allen-Bradley PLC experience preferred
• Experience in high-speed manufacturing or automated production environments
• Technical degree, apprenticeship, or equivalent hands-on experience
• Experience supporting complex automated equipment and production systems
