The Job Part‑time Emergency Veterinarian What You’ll Do Answer medical questions over the phone See patients immediately as part of VEG Triage and VEG Spikes, our customer‑centered approach Gather signalment, presenting complaint, vitals, and physical exam data Perform physical examinations, ultrasounds, X‑rays, bloodwork, biopsies, and other investigative procedures Diagnose each case and develop a diagnostic and therapeutic plan Communicate diagnosis and treatment options directly with customers Prepare and present estimates to customers Create and review medical records to ensure accuracy Explain test and treatment value to customers and address concerns Perform minor and major emergency surgeries Perform endoscopic procedures Educate customers on after‑care and preventive measures where appropriate What You Need DVM or equivalent degree Experience in emergency medicine, including soft‑tissue emergency surgery and endoscopy Team‑oriented mindset; collaborative across hospital functions Physical stamina: standing for prolonged periods, kneeling, floor work, lifting up to 25 kg alone and up to 40 kg with assistance Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating or as‑needed basis Adaptability in a fast‑paced, diverse environment Who You Are Empathetic, people‑centric, and supportive of colleagues Humble, acknowledges mistakes, shares credit, and promotes team achievements Owns work, takes responsibility for outcomes, and stays committed to long‑term impact Curious, asks insightful questions, and seeks continuous learning How We Invest in You Competitive compensation Focused learning and growth opportunities through VEG‑created clinical and leadership programs Unlimited ER CE and travel stipends: $1 000/year for part‑time credentialed VEGgies; $400/year for uncredentialed Flexible work schedules to support life outside work Generous employee referral program Additional perks: comfortable scrubs, VEG swag, and in‑office food DEI At VEG, diversity is central to our mission of helping people and their pets.
