SENIOR ACCOUNTING OFFICER (SPECIALIST) – ACCOUNTING SERVICES SECTION / FISCAL SYSTEMS / SACRAMENTO HQ

The reporting location for this position is at 715 P Street, Sacramento, CA. This position will work under the general direction of the Staff Administrative Analyst.

The Senior Accounting Officer (Specialist) is responsible for the Labor Distribution Subsystem, as well as the development, maintenance and testing of financial applications in multiple platforms such as Microsoft Access, Excel, Monarch, SQL Server, and the Labor Information Application (LIA). Incumbent will provide guidance to Accounting Section Staff and agency personnel to resolve complex system and accounting problems and assist with the more complex database issues.

Training and Development Assignments may be considered.

This position is designated as telework eligible-office centered.

1. Describe your experience with FI$Cal or another statewide/enterprise ERP financial system. Include the modules you have worked with (e.g., General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Labor Distribution, Procurement, Budget, Chart Fields) and your level of responsibility.

2. Describe your experience analyzing and reconciling financial data from multiple sources. Include any experience with SQL databases, spreadsheets, data uploads, reporting tools, or large-volume transaction processing.

3. Provide an example of when you identified an opportunity for improvement in a financial process or system. Describe how you analyzed the opportunity, developed recommendations, implemented improvements, and measured the results.

4. Describe your experience developing or delivering training on financial systems or accounting procedures. Include how you adapted training for users with different levels of technical expertise.

Failure to include and complete the SOQ may result in disqualification for interview.
