Position Purpose

At Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center the Registered Nurse (RN) in the Ambulatory Surgery Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) provides post-operative care for patients recovering from surgical procedures performed in the Ambulatory Operating Room and Main Operating Room.

What You Will Do

• Provide high-acuity care for patients recovering from outpatient surgical procedures.
• Manage Phase 1 and 2 recovery ensuring safe emergence from anesthesia stabilization and readiness for discharge or transfer.
• Collaborate with anesthesiologists surgeons and care teams to deliver advanced interventions and uphold perioperative standards.

Minimum Qualifications

Required:

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program with an Associates degree in Nursing is required.
• Valid RN license in Connecticut
• The ideal candidate will have one or more years of PACU experience supporting inpatient surgical recovery

Preferred:

• Candidates with ICU experience with 2 years of experience may be considered if they demonstrate expertise in ICU-level ventilated patient care critical drips (e.g. vasopressors sedatives) and strong assessment skills. Note : Training is not available for candidates without this expertise
• BLS/CPR certification (AHA or ARC)
• ACLS and TNCC certification (support available post-hire)
• Proficiency in ASPAN standards and guidelines

Position Highlights and Benefits

• Part-Time 24 hours/week Day Shift
• Monday thru Friday no weekend or holiday commitment.
• Variable Day shift rotations with ranging start times of 5:30 am 6 am 7 am 8 am or 9:00 am.
• Shifts range from 8 10 and 12-hour shifts based on unit needs

Compensation and Benefits

• Hourly Staff RN position; pay range: $36.15 $59.95/hour
  • Pay is based on working RN experience only. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.

• Unit-based specialty pay is available for experienced nurses with one or more years of RN experience
