Generator Technician

Job TitleJob DescriptionPerform technical skills including mechanical, electrical, troubleshooting and repair of generators.Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of generators both during normal working hours and after-hours, weekends and holidays as directed.Perform scheduled preventative maintenance service and/or repairs of generators.Read and interpret operational manuals, electrical schematics, universal generator literature, and work orders to perform required maintenance and/or repairs.Detect faulty operations, defective material and report them and any other unusual situations to the service manager in a timely manner.Stay current on National Fire Protection Association and State regulations for Emergency Power Supply Systems.Create reports for all work performed in FieldServio.Communicate report findings through phone calls, emails and in person communication.Conducting equipment commissioning for the industrial and MPS products.Minimum Job RequirementsEducation: High School DiplomaCertification / License: Valid Driver LicenseWork Experience: 4 years servicing and troubleshooting of Emergency Power Supply Systems (EPSS)Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:Working knowledge of mechanical design, AC and DC circuitry, power generation, wiring schematics, and connection diagramsWorking knowledge of Engine maintenance and troubleshooting of natural gas fuel systems.Knowledge of power generation; light tower, pumps, and heating productsWorking knowledge of diesel or gaseous enginesExcellent troubleshooting skills, the ability to make independent decisions, and work with minimal supervision.Working knowledge of transfer switch operationsSpark Ignited knowledgeAbility to obtain and maintain Generac certification in the air-cooled and protector series coursesAbility to work and communicate well with othersAbility to provide detailed reports within 24 hoursAbility to manage and respond to emails, texts, and phone calls in a safe and timely mannerExcellent conflict and resolution skillsAble to observe, identify and relay critical information to the company, customers, or coworkerPreferred Job RequirementsEducation: Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical EngineeringCertification / License: N/AWork Experience: 6 years servicing and troubleshooting of Emergency Power Supply Systems (EPSS)Knowledge / Skills / Abilities: N/APhysical Requirements and Working ConditionsProduction Environment:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to use hands to manipulate objects, tools, or controls; and to talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to walk, stoop, crouch, bend and reach above shoulders. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance, waist high, up to 10 feet away. This job's specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be working in the typical conditions of a manufacturing environment, including seasonal variations in temperatures and occasional exposure to manufacturing fumes or byproducts. The employee must comply with the assigned location PPE requirements, including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, appropriate gloves, clothing, and shields for required tasks, and closed-toed or safety shoes as required by facility safety policies. The employee must be able to work in varying weather conditions including extreme heat, snow, and ice.
