Experienced Horticultural Sales Representative

Role Description The Experienced Horticultural Sales Representative is a full-time, mostly remote position covering the Washington DC area. This position is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with landscape contractors, property managers, and other commercial and residential clients, providing expert advice on plant materials and horticultural solutions. Day-to-day tasks include prospecting and following up with leads, conducting site visits, preparing quotes and bids, and coordinating orders and deliveries with nursery and logistics staff. The role involves actively promoting nursery products, monitoring inventory relevant to customer needs, and ensuring a high level of service and follow-through. The Sales Representative also tracks sales activity, reports market feedback to management, and collaborates with internal teams to meet revenue and customer satisfaction goals. Qualifications Strong horticultural knowledge, including plant identification, care requirements, and suitability for various landscape applications. Proven outside sales or account management experience, preferably in the nursery, landscape, or green industry sector. Ability to build and maintain long-term customer relationships, with effective consultative selling and negotiation skills. Solid organizational and time management abilities to handle multiple accounts, quotes, and site visits. Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills, including comfort presenting to customers and internal stakeholders. Proficiency with basic office software (e.g., email, spreadsheets, CRM or sales tracking tools) and accurate recordkeeping. Ability to work on-site and outdoors as needed, including walking nursery rows, lifting moderate weights, and conducting field visits. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for customer visits and regional travel. High school diploma or equivalent required; further education in horticulture, agriculture, or a related field is preferred.
