Description: The unit has a total of 20 beds with a patient ratio of 4:1. Staff includes Unit Secretary, Nurse Externs, Patient Care Techs, and Registered Nurses. The equipment used on the unit includes ZOLL, Baxter pumps, GE telemetry monitors, and Hillrom beds. Documentation is performed using a specific system. Scheduling requires availability for every other weekend and holidays. Floating to other units is part of the policy. Mandatory certifications include ACLS. The dress code consists of all navy blue or all white scrubs and closed-toe shoes. Time and attendance are critical; shifts start promptly. Bedside shift report is mandated for all patients. The unit has received awards such as the Daisy Award and Pride Award. Teamwork and accountability are highly valued on the unit. The staff consists of seasoned professionals and new graduates eager to learn. The unit has maintained a 0% turnover rate for the last two years.
