Medical Assistant Certified

Summary A Medical Assistant (MA) under the direct supervision of a physician or Advance Care Practitioner. Decisions are limited to defined parameters around work expectations, quality standards, priorities, policies and procedures. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for rooming patients and preparing them for examination Takes patients' vital signs including blood pressure, height, weight, and documents in EMR Updates patient medical record including medications, allergies, past medical & surgical history Preps procedure room for minor procedures and assists with those procedures as needed Prepares exam rooms for provider dependent on appointment type Cleans exam room and beds after each appointment and restocks medical supplies daily Assists physician and Acute Care Providers with patient examinations Draws blood, performs EKG, SWAB test and any additional clinical test within clinic Manages physician orders by submitting to appropriate departments such as imaging, labs, scheduling surgeries, referral to specialist. Confirms all orders are completed and results have been returned Obtains prior authorizations as needed Checks in patients, registers patients, verifies insurance, scans documents in patient charts, answers phones, returns phone calls, and schedules appointments Demonstrates strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
