CAD Drafting Engineer (Steel Shop Drawings)Our client, a steel fabrication and structural manufacturing company supporting government-related projects, is seeking a CAD Drafting Engineer to join their team. As a CAD Drafting Engineer, you will be part of the Engineering and Design Department supporting the Engineering, Project Management, Fabrication, and Production Teams. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently, which will align successfully within the organization.Job Title: CAD Drafting Engineer (Steel Shop Drawings) Location: Kiowa, CO Contract: 2-3 Month Contract (Potential Extension) Pay Range: $40.00 - $50.00/hourWhat's the Job?Create, revise, and maintain detailed steel shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and assembly drawings for miscellaneous metals, hose racks, beams, and other fabricated steel components.Develop accurate 2D and 3D models using AutoCAD, Fusion 360, and related drafting software.Generate fabrication packages including weld details, dimensions, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and production documentation.Interpret structural, engineering, and fabrication drawings while ensuring compliance with project specifications and quality standards.Collaborate with engineering, project management, and fabrication teams to support manufacturing activities and maintain project schedules.What's Needed?Minimum 7+ years of CAD drafting experience, preferably within steel fabrication, structural steel, or miscellaneous metals environments.Strong proficiency with AutoCAD, Fusion 360, and Bluebeam.Experience creating steel shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and manufacturing documentation.Thorough understanding of steel fabrication processes, welding symbols, tolerances, and blueprint reading.Detail-oriented professional with strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.What's in it for me?Competitive pay rate of $45-$50/hour.Opportunity to work on a variety of steel fabrication and miscellaneous metals projects.Flexible work schedule.Collaborative team environment with experienced professionals.Potential contract extension based on project workload and business needs.Additional Details100% onsite position in Kiowa, Colorado.Work consists primarily of drafting miscellaneous metals, hose racks, beams, and single-component fabrication projects.Typical deliverables include 2-4 drawings per component, primarily 8.5" x 11" fabrication drawings.Experience supporting government-related projects is highly preferred.
