Location: San Diego, CA

Tentative Start Date: 07/01/2026

Duration: 1 year minimum commitment with options to extend until 2031

Shift: Days, Monday – Friday, 8-hour shifts

On-Call hours are from 0000 – 2359 Sunday through Saturday. Call responsibilities include a minimum of two (2) overnight call shifts per month, and one (1) weekend call shift every three (3) months. Overnight call coverage is defined as on-call availability from 1600 to 0700 the following morning.

Licenses/Certifications: Active, unrestricted medical license; Board certification in Orthopedic Surgery; Fellowship in Foot and Ankle

Experience: Minimum 1 year post-residency; specialized training in foot and ankle surgery

Pay & Benefits

1099 Contractor Pay Rate: $300/hour

What You'll Do

• Conduct comprehensive evaluations, including medical histories, physical exams, and diagnostic imaging interpretation
• Develop and oversee non-surgical treatment plans for foot and ankle conditions
• Manage pre- and post-operative patient care, including wound management and rehabilitation
• Perform a full spectrum of foot and ankle surgeries, including fracture fixation, arthroscopic procedures, joint replacements, and deformity corrections
• Handle complex trauma, limb salvage, and high-acuity cases
• Participate in multidisciplinary team collaborations and resident education
• Provide urgent/emergent orthopedic care during on-call rotations
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation
• Contribute to operational readiness and clinical research initiatives

What You Need

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited U.S. or Canadian medical school. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must have provided education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.
• License: Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
• Completion of accredited residency in Orthopedic Surgery
• Fellowship training in Foot and Ankle Surgery
• Board Certification: Applicants must have successfully completed the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery Board certification. Additionally, they must maintain their board certification status during their time at NMCSD.
