Architectural Technologist

Job IntroductionThe Design and Compliance team works across the Council’s entire building estate, delivering a diverse range of projects – from small‑scale community facilities such as public conveniences, through to some of the city’s most significant and historic buildings, including City Hall.A major focus of our current programme is within Education, where we deliver projects for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This role offers exceptional variety, working across new‑build, refurbishment and temporary accommodation, designing and delivering thoughtful, practical and inclusive solutions that respond directly to user needs and project challenges.We are seeking an experienced Architectural Technologist to join its Built Environment team and play a key role in the delivery of high‑quality building projects across the district.This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional to work on a diverse portfolio of projects, providing technical design expertise and project delivery support from feasibility through to completion. You will work closely with architects, engineers, consultants and contractors, helping to shape safe, sustainable and well‑designed buildings that serve our communities.This role is an opportunity to make a real difference in our vibrant and diverse city.The main responsibilities of this role:Delivering technical design services, including drawings, specifications and schedulesManaging technical design stages and supporting the delivery of construction projects from inception to completionAdvising clients on feasibility, statutory compliance, procurement routes, programme and cost implicationsBriefing and coordinating external consultants and contractorsEnsuring compliance with Building Regulations, Planning, CDM, Fire Safety and the Building Safety ActUndertaking site inspections to monitor quality, progress and complianceUsing and promoting digital systems including AutoCAD, Revit, NBS, BIM, CAFM and IWMSMaintaining accurate project records and contributing to service improvement and best practiceAbout YouWe are looking for a confident and well‑organised Architectural Technologist with strong technical knowledge and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.At least 3 years’ relevant experience in architectural technology or a related built‑environment roleProven experience producing technical design and working drawing packagesA sound understanding of construction, statutory compliance and procurement processesThe ability to lead and coordinate work within multi‑disciplinary design teamsStrong communication and organisational skills, with a solution‑focused approachQualifications required:Degree in Architectural Technology or HNC/HND/BTEC (or equivalent) in Building Construction or a related disciplineMCIAT membershipA commitment to continuing professional development is essential.How to ApplyIf you are interested in joining our team and would like some further information, please contact Fiona Kelly (View email address on click.appcast.io) on 07582 101874 or Ian Smith (View email address on click.appcast.io) on 07582 104684 [.Employee OfferWhy work for Bradford Council?
