BUS OPERATOR - SPED

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experienced driving record beneficial
Good driving record with a check of MVR on an annual basis
Commercial Driver's License in accordance with 49CFR391.41 (Subpart E - Physical Qualifications and Examinations).
Twenty-one years old.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Maintain a professional profile m your relationship with students, parents, and administrative personnel.
Obey all traffic laws and transportation guidelines. (Immediately within 5 minutes, report to the transportation office any/all accidents and call the police.)
Develop and maintain high standards of student conduct for students on our bus.
Keep bus clean and in good repair.
You must meet assigned schedule, morning and evening. You must always stop in the morning and open door.
Be prompt in picking up and discharging students at approved stops.
Transport only students who have been authorized and, in emergency, a student assigned by the principal.
Enforce bus regulations and report undisciplined students to principal on standard forms.
Attend regular in-service training programs. 1 back-to-back and 1 mid-year in-service.
Establish safe bus stop locations. Do not change originals through the year. You may add stops, but not move or reduce stops with the approval of the Transportation Supervisor.
Be punctual in turning in required information to the transportation office.
Immediately notify parents of bus schedules, (example: time, and bus stop location) prior to opening of school and when changes occur.
Drive route as assigned with any necessary special or emergency routes with the bus assigned to that route.
Notify the Transportation Department of all accidents and incidents.
Maintain an acceptable driving record in personal vehicles and the school bus, as required in the Commercial Motor Vehicle Safety Act of 1988, Part 383, Subparts, B, C and D of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulation.
Ability to lift hood of bus to examine engine compartment, check various fluid levels and properly annotate findings. In some cases, standing on bumper will be required to complete the pre-trip inspection.
If an accident occurs, you must notify the student's home principal that they must notify each parent about the accident.
During severe weather, contact your principal or the Transportation Department for changed route instructions.
Assumes additional responsibilities as the Director of Transportation may assign.
