Community Outreach Coordinator

St. Louis County Animal Care and Control is hiring a Community Outreach Coordinator. In this role, you will coordinate outreach activities with the purpose to educate the public on available programs and collaborate with external agencies to deliver services. St. Louis County Government is a qualified agency for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program managed by the Federal Government. For more information regarding this program, please visit Public Service Loan Forgiveness | Federal Student Aid. Develop a strategy to provide public outreach and inform public of available services. Plan and coordinate logistics for off-site adoption events, community education events, veterinary clinics and more. Help ideate, capture, and deliver content for marketing shelter pets, including but not limited to social media content, traditional advertising materials, and emerging marketing avenues. Establish and maintain relationships with external agencies and community organizations to inform, educate, and familiarize citizens with County programs and events. Work with and handle animals in the shelter, at community events, and in other situations. Create relationships with local news media to pitch shelter stories, build public trust, and advocate for animals in the shelter. Develop community education initiatives and identify underserved citizenry and develop relationships to provide services. Weekends and evenings may be required as necessary. Other duties as assigned. Equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree and three years of related experience. Two years of experience in event planning or community outreach is required. Knowledge of animal welfare is preferred, not required.

SELECTION AND APPOINTMENT

A selection committee will evaluate the qualifications of each applicant which will include recentness and appropriateness of the applicant's education and experience, answers to the supplemental questions, results of employment references investigated and any other appropriate information available. The selection committee will admit to the interview only those persons who possess the most job-related qualifications and may establish admittance criteria beyond the minimum qualifications stated above. The interview will comprise 100% of the applicant's earned grade. A candidate must earn a qualifying grade of 70 or more on the interview to be eligible for appointment. After initial interviews with the selected candidates are conducted, an email will be sent to the address on file with instructions on how to complete and submit a Conviction Questionnaire. Candidates have 3 days to complete the required questionnaire. The five top ranking candidates, based on the final grade, will be certified to the Department Director/Appointing Authority who will make the final decision. All applicants conditionally offered a merit position will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Screening will be performed by a reputable clinical laboratory. The cost of screening will be covered by the County. In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
