Child Life Specialist – Behavior Safety Team Full-time, 40 hours per week (1.0 FTE) Location: Burnet Campus Monday–Friday 7:30 am to 4:00 pm Weekend rotation: one weekend day every eight weeks. $5.00/hour weekend differential on qualified hours. Benefits eligible, 30 days paid time accrued per year. Unused PTO rolls over. Annual salary starts at $53,705.60 (salaried/exempt), may increase with experience. About the Job The Behavior Safety Team is an interdisciplinary group focused on providing safe medical care while ensuring the safety of patients, families, caregivers, and staff. As a Child Life Specialist, you will work with clinicians, psychologists, behavior health facilitators, consultants, and intake coordinators to develop and implement comprehensive support plans for physical and emotional safety during healthcare encounters. Key responsibilities include: pre‑planning for healthcare appointments, providing child life support, collaborating with the Adaptive Care Team and Outpatient Child Life Specialists, assisting in program development, and educating peers on behavioral support strategies and crisis response. Required Job Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Completion of a child life internship supervised by a certified CLS. Must attain Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) credential within one year of hire. Preferred Job Skills Experience or strong interest in working with patients with developmental disabilities and challenging behaviors. Ability to remain calm in highly escalated or crisis situations. Excellent communication skills. Willingness to speak up and advocate for patients/families with the interdisciplinary team. Strong teamwork skills. Openness to learning and applying feedback.
