Job Title: Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP)

Coverage Period: Long-Term Contract Opportunity

Clinical Shift Schedule: 13-hour shifts (specific shift times to be confirmed). Two shifts per day with one NNP assigned to each shift. Each shift includes a 30-minute unpaid meal break and a 30-minute paid handoff, totaling 12.5 compensated hours. Continuous 24/7 coverage, including weekends and holidays.

PATIENT INFORMATION

Patient Demographics: Neonates and newborns who are eligible military and Department of Defense beneficiaries

Patient Volume: Approximately 120 deliveries per month

Patient Census: Level II NICU averages 4-6 patients daily

Admissions: Yes - Level II NICU admissions and ongoing medical management within granted privileges

Rounding: Included

Phone Consults: None

Case Mix: Infants generally at or above 32 weeks' gestational age and 1,500 grams, including late-preterm infants, term infants with respiratory distress, and other Level II NICU cases

Support Staff Available: Three Registered Nurses, one Hospital Corpsman, with additional staff based on patient census

Physician Coverage: One Neonatologist on-site at a time providing clinical oversight. Neonatology Medical Director available for administrative support as needed.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Certification: Current Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) certification through the National Certification Corporation (NCC)

Licenses: Active, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license

DEA: Active DEA Registration

Certifications: Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), BLS (AHA or ARC), and PALS

NPI: Required

Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of experience within the last five (5) years practicing as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner in a Level II or higher NICU

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide comprehensive neonatal care within a Level II NICU under the direction of the attending Neonatologist

Evaluate, admit, and manage neonatal patients within granted clinical privileges

Perform daily patient rounding and ongoing assessment of neonatal patients

Participate in neonatal resuscitations and stabilization of newborns when required

Collaborate with the Neonatologist, OB/GYN team, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient care

Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with military facility standards

Deliver patient-centered neonatal care while supporting continuity of care for military beneficiaries
