Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a detail-oriented Registered Nurse to join our team. This role involves working with Bronchoscopy, Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS), and Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS) procedures. The nurse will be responsible for monitoring patients during procedures, recognizing alterations in both physiological and psychological status, and managing patient recovery post-sedation.

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse will utilize their knowledge of post-procedure complications and discharge criteria to provide clear and concise follow-up instructions to patients. They will demonstrate a strong understanding and interpretation of diagnostic measures such as lab tests, radiology exams, and EKG interpretation. This position requires the application of professional nursing judgment to implement care plans and resolve identified problems for individual patients.

Essential Responsibilities

• Ensure all equipment for GI procedures is set up correctly.
• Demonstrate competency in endoscope manipulation techniques, and understand complications associated with endoscopy and their symptoms.
• Assist the physician or advanced provider during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to promote optimal patient outcomes.
• Follow hospital policy for Minimal/Moderate sedation, including pre and post-assessments.
• Complete physical and social history within 30 minutes after patient arrival.
• Identify common recurrent patient problems, symptoms, and behavioral changes using established standards of care.

Requirements

Education and Work Experience

• High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required
• Associate Degree (A.A. or A.S.): Required
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing: Preferred
• One year of GI experience: Required

Licenses/Certifications

• Current RN license in the state of practice: Required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor per policy: Required
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from an approved vendor per policy: Required

Skills

• Knowledgeable about equipment and supplies used for procedures, including proper cleaning and handling.
• Practices infection control techniques.
