Heavy-Capacity Operation: Heavy Lumber Forklift Operator / Order Picker Wanted in Tacoma!

American Workforce Group has partnered with a premier lumber distribution facility in Tacoma, WA to hire a full-time Heavy Lumber Forklift Operator / Order Picker .

PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A HIGHLY PHYSICAL DUAL-ROLE! You will not just be sitting in a cab. You will operate large 10,000–12,000 lb sit-down propane forklifts to maneuver oversized lumber stacks and units, while frequently stepping on and off the lift throughout your shift to physically pick, lift, carry, measure, and bundle heavy dimensional lumber orders by hand. If you bring strong forklift skills, heavy-lifting physical drive, and a zero-shortcut safety mindset, let's get you in the yard!

• Operate heavy-capacity 10,000–12,000 lb sit-down propane forklifts to maneuver, stack, and stage massive timber units and oversized lumber packages.
• Fulfill customer and contractor orders by stepping on and off the forklift constantly to manually pick, move, and bundle dimensional lumber.
• Perform precision cross-cuts on timber utilizing industrial chop saws to custom client specifications.
• Load and unload flatbeds, curtain vans, and freight trailers efficiently with zero product damage.
• Maintain high situational awareness in a fast-paced, high-volume yard while strictly adhering to safety protocols.
• Keep storage lanes organized, manage dunnage, and assist with active yard labor duties as assigned.

• Pay Rate: $19.00 – $21.00 / hour (DOE) + Overtime potential!
• Schedule: Monday – Friday (Enjoy a consistent weekday schedule with overtime required as needed).
• Shift Options: Day Shift A (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM) OR Day Shift B (9:00 AM – 5:30 PM).
• Location: Tacoma, WA facility.
• Position Type: Full-Time, Temp-to-Hire path featuring long-term career growth.

• REQUIRED: Verifiable experience operating heavy-capacity 10,000–12,000 lb sit-down propane forklifts in an industrial, lumber yard, or building materials setting.
• REQUIRED: Extensive background handling oversized timber loads, long dimensional lumber units, and wide freight.
• PHYSICAL STAMINA MANDATORY: Must be comfortable with heavy physical labor, constant mounting/dismounting from the lift, bending, stooping, and lifting 50–75 lbs consistently unassisted.
• Basic technical aptitude to accurately read tape measures, perform math for board feet, and operate chop saws.
• Exceptional record of daily attendance, prompt punctuality, and reliable personal transportation habits.
