Supplemental Insurance Plans Opportunity to promote within, just to name a few. Job Purpose The Education Coach (EC) will provide ongoing support to the teaching staff of PACE Education Division. The EC ensures that the program is adhering to the Head Start Performance Standards, the Head Start Act, California Care Licensing regulations, Los Angeles County of Education contract, and other related laws and ordinances, and providing high quality Early Childhood Development services. The purpose of the EC is to support and expand early educator’s knowledge on early childhood education best practices as well as increase knowledge of the tools and resources used by PACE Education Division through coaching, training and technical assistance. Position Responsibilities In collaboration with the Professional Development Program Manager (PDPM), reviews and updates annually the education service area plan in cooperation with staff and parents. Conducts regular site visits and develops meaningful, productive relationships with site directors, leads and teaching staff. Coaches and guides staff through the implementation of a developmentally and linguistically appropriate approach to child development and education. Provides initial and ongoing training and technical assistance to identified teaching staff regarding program philosophy, policies, procedures and other topics as requested or assigned to ensure the uniform delivery of quality services. Provides initial and ongoing training and technical assistance to staff including but not limited to: CLASS, Creative Curriculum, Parents as Teacher (PAT), DRDP, ERS and other tools used within the program. Conducts CLASS observations as required by Head Start Performance Standards and LACOE Exhibit E. Plans and implements professional development opportunities such as learning communities and onsite trainings based on best practices, Head Start Performance Standards and LACOE GIMs. In collaboration with Education Management team, conducts ERS observations according to the timeline that is set as required by Head Start Performance Standards, LACOE GIM and PACE. Supports school readiness programming with assigned teaching staff. Supports and monitors site staff with care and supervision to ensure lapses do not occur. Confers regularly with Regional Site Directors and teachers regarding children’s behavioral or learning problems, and recommends methods of modifying inappropriate behavior and encouraging learning experiences. Conducts observations within classrooms and provides on-site consultation to teaching staff. With the PDPM, reviews and evaluates education services component and center activities to ensure conformance to Head Start performance standards and other Federal, State, and local regulations. Designs, develops, and delivers in-service training programs and orientations for teaching staff. Develops and maintains schedule for on-site visitations. Meets regularly with immediate supervisor and attends all meetings and trainings sessions as requested. Provides input into the agency Training and Technical Assistance Plan. Must be able to communicate effectively in English in both verbal and written format. Attend all assigned meetings and trainings as required by the program. Supports and ensures the achievement of recruitment and enrollment goals. Assists in accomplishing the program's non-federal share through the access of community resources (services, donations, discounts, and/or goods). Other duties as assigned within the scope of the position. Education and Work Experience Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field from an institution of higher learning accredited by a regional accreditation association recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. Must possess a current and valid Child Development Master Teacher Permit or higher Four (4) years’ experience in a classroom or group setting with young children. Must be trained in Practice-Based Coaching and using assessment data to deliver coaching and professional development strategies aligned with performance goals (may be obtained within 6 months of hire) Minimum of six (6) units in Infant and Toddler Development (may be obtained within 6 months of hire) Must maintain Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) reliability certification (may be obtained within 12 months hire) Knowledge and Skills Use of assessment data to drive coaching strategies aligned with program performance goals Knowledge and daily ability to manage work requirements using computer software such as Microsoft Office (Word, PDF, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint), Zoom, etc. Must be able to navigate the internet to access resources and competently manage other internet platforms independently. Previous experience utilizing ChildPlus database is preferred. Must be able to create, edit, save, upload/download, e-mail and print Word/PDF documents. Must be able to complete data entry accurately. Must be able to use spelling and grammar check software to ensure documents are error-free. Must be able to organize and manage a weekly schedule to ensure all timelines and work product are current. Outlook weekly schedule must be updated daily. Identifying teaching staff strengths, areas of needed support, and intensive coaching strategies Coaching Classroom observation and feedback Modeling of effective teacher practices Must have knowledge in administering assessment tools such as ECERs, ITERs, FCCRs Must have 0-5 classroom and/or Home Base experience and knowledge of early childhood program and philosophy Must possess the ability to administer and implement the DRDP and other relevant tools Must work towards CLASS and ERSs Trainer Certification. Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as presentation and public speaking skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point as well as the use of Internet and E-mail to conduct research and communications is required. Exceptional organizational and administrative skills. The ability to think strategically, plan, set goals and objectives and then organize and follow through. Creativity, vision, charisma, strong presence, responsiveness, honesty, drive and initiative are all traits that will be highly valued. The successful candidate will be a strong, inspiring, and sensitive leader. Special Conditions Valid California Driver’s License and insurance coverage Must pass the following background checks prior to start of employment: Sex Offender Registry Child Abuse and Neglect State Registry State or Tribal Criminal History Check, including fingerprints FBI Criminal History Check, including fingerprints Must have verification of T.B. clearance at time of employment, to be renewed every four (4) years (every 4 years for chest x-rays). Must complete a physical examination at time of employment, to be renewed every four (4) years. Provide proof of the following immunizations as required: Measles, Pertussis (Whooping Cough), Influenza, and COVID-19. Must complete 15 clock hours of professional development annually that builds the knowledge, experience, skills, and abilities of staff to improve child, family, and staff outcomes. Of this, a minimum of 50% of the 15 hours (or 7.5 hours) must be focused on the specific content area or job assignment. Must complete an annual Professional Development Plan (PDP) to be reviewed 3 times during the year. Must obtain 21 hours/year of professional development (105 hours every five years) to maintain their teaching certification/permit. Physical Demands The working conditions and physical demands of this position will be those that must be met to successfully perform the essential duties of the position. The physical environment the incumbent will work in is typically a pre-school environment with moderate noise levels that would be expected in that type of work environment. Outdoor and indoor supervision of playgrounds / workplace for on-going periods occurs regularly. Lift and carry up to 45 lbs. or more. The individual must be able to work with children at their eye level and always maintain visual supervision of children, as well as hear, communicate, and comprehend effectively with children, staff, and parents. The individual also must be able to walk, sit, kneel, crawl, carry, push, pull and participate in activities indoors and outdoors as needed in an environment with children and adults. T.B. Test within the past year prior to employment, and every four (4) years thereafter (every 4 years for a chest X-ray). Must pass a physical examination at the time of hire, and every 4 years thereafter. Provide proof of the following immunizations as required: Measles, Pertussis (Whooping Cough), and Influenza. COVID vaccination required ; must have two-dose series of Pfizer or Moderna or a single-dose of Johnson & Johnson. Those that need a medical or religious exemption must reach out separately. Representative physical demands of the job include normal vision and hearing, standing for extended periods, sitting for extended periods, kneeling, and stooping, manipulating objects with hands, reaching overhead, and occasionally lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 45 pounds.
