The administrative medical assistant (MA/PSC) plays a vital role in supporting healthcare providers working in the field. This position involves a variety of administrative and clinical coordination tasks, including:Answering and managing incoming telephone callsWriting and faxing home draw ordersFacilitating the virtual rooming processFaxing and scanning medical documentsProcessing DME (Durable Medical Equipment) orders with clinical note attachmentsInitiating prior authorizations for medicationsManaging referral intake and scheduling appointmentsPlacing Trident orders for home diagnostic imagingTroubleshooting transportation issues for patientsCoordinating with home health agenciesEntering referrals and lab orders into Epic on behalf of providersCompleting demographic sections of forms for provider signature during weekly visitsThis role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with clinical teams to ensure seamless patient care coordination. Provides basic clinical and clerical support in the delivery of patient care within the Medical Assistant scope of education. The Medical Assistant experiences continued training of all aspects of the Medical Assistant role.Qualifications:Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program OR an active CT CNA, EMT, Paramedic or Medic Certification OR relative experience as outlined below.Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date.All required credentials to be maintained throughout employment.In lieu of education requirement, at least one year of experience in direct patient care (acute or ambulatory space) may be considered.Relevant experience or MA externship in a busy medical office preferred.EPIC EMR experience preferred.With locations around the state, Hartford HealthCare offers exciting opportunities for career development and growth.
