Swiss-Type Lathe Programmer & Setup Technician

ACCURATE METAL CNC MACHINING

Job Description

Job Description

Join Accurate Metal Machining (AMMI) as a Swiss-Type Lathe Programmer & Setup Technician

At Accurate Metal Machining, Inc. (AMMI) in Painesville, Ohio, precision is our craft and our calling. We support aerospace, defense, and industrial customers, and we invest in people who take pride in doing things right the first time.

A Day in the Life

You arrive, pull the job router and blueprints, and map out the setup. On the Citizen Swiss machine, you write or tweak programs directly at the control using Fanuc M and G codes. You prove out the process, secure first article approval, and dial in tooling and offsets until the part runs cleanly and repeatably. Once stable, you either continue running parts—inspecting critical features along the way—or hand off to an operator with clear documentation and labeled parts. Throughout the shift, you communicate with the foreman and engineering if anything changes, and you keep the cell tidy and organized.

What You’ll Own
  • End-to-end setup of new and repeat Swiss jobs from blueprints and job routers
  • On-control programming and adjustments to meet blueprint specifications
  • Submitting and earning first article approval (FAI)
  • Meeting or exceeding the machine rate listed on the job router
  • Locking down a stable process ready for a smooth operator handoff
  • Operating the machine while monitoring and maintaining part quality
  • Changing worn tooling and applying accurate machine offsets
  • Inspecting and documenting critical characteristics per the inspection plan
  • Completing all required production records and logging setup/production daily
  • Properly identifying parts with labels or tags for clear traceability
  • Maintaining a clean, organized work area
  • Working independently while proactively updating the foreman and engineering
Required Background
  • Hands-on Swiss CNC machining experience
  • Direct experience on Citizen platforms
  • Fluency with Fanuc M and G code programming at the machine
  • Blueprint literacy with strong GD&T comprehension
  • Proficient use of inspection tools and gauges
  • Solid math abilities
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs.
Preferred
  • 3+ years of CNC setup experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Background with multi-axis CNC equipment
  • Experience in aerospace or precision machining environments
Why AMMI

We trust machinists to run their work cells like owners—make sound decisions, solve problems, and communicate early. You’ll find support, modern equipment, and a team that values workmanship. Second shift receives a shift premium.
