Forklift Operator

This role focuses on safely operating a sit-down forklift to pick parts, hardware, and subassemblies from the warehouse and deliver them to the production line. You will spend most of your time on a forklift in a fast-paced, high-traffic environment while also performing manual loading, counting, and inventory tasks. You will work from printed pick sheets to locate items in specific bins and ensure the production line receives accurate and timely material support.

Responsibilities

• Operate a sit-down forklift approximately 70% of the time to move parts, hardware, and subassemblies from warehouse storage locations to the production line.
• Work from printed pick sheets to identify bin locations, select the correct items, and deliver them to the designated areas on the production line.
• Load, unload, and handle materials manually when required, including counting parts by hand to verify accuracy.
• Assist with unloading incoming trucks and restocking warehouse shelves with received products.
• Perform regular inventory counts to maintain accurate stock levels and support inventory control activities.
• Use pallet jacks and other material handling equipment to move materials safely and efficiently within the warehouse.
• Maintain a high level of awareness and safety in a busy, high-traffic forklift environment.
• Read and interpret part numbers and bin locations to ensure correct picking and placement of materials.
• Support warehouse operations on Fridays and during production line shutdowns to prepare materials and complete inventory tasks.
• Follow all safety procedures, including the proper use of required personal protective equipment.

Essential Skills

• At least 6 months of experience operating a forklift or similar material handling equipment.
• Proficiency in operating a sit-down forklift in a high-traffic environment.
• Experience with material handling, including loading, unloading, and moving parts and hardware.
• Ability to perform accurate picking and parts pulling based on printed pick sheets.
• Ability to conduct inventory counts and maintain accurate stock records.
• Capability to read and write clearly to follow instructions and document work.
• Ability to understand and work with part numbers and bin locations.
• Comfort working in a production plant warehouse environment with frequent material movement.
• Commitment to safety and proper use of equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• RF scanner experience is a plus but not required.
• Experience with packing and palletizing materials is beneficial.
• Willingness to be trained and certified on forklift operation during the first week.
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills when handling multiple parts and locations.
• Ability to work collaboratively with warehouse and production teams to support the production line.

Work Environment

This position is based in a production plant warehouse that moves a high volume of materials and parts daily to support the production line. The schedule typically runs from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with regular work on Fridays to prepare for the following week. The warehouse team also works during production line shutdowns, such as holiday shutdowns, to complete inventory tasks. You will work around active forklifts and other material handling equipment in a busy, high-traffic environment. Steel-toed boots and safety glasses are required as part of the dress code and safety standards.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Thief River Falls, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
