The AGM assists with day-to-day operations, property initiatives, team leadership and cross-departmental collaboration while progressively taking on greater responsibility as proficiency grows.Working alongside the GM the AGM helps champion Macerich corporate initiatives, supports community and retailer partnerships and contributes to delivering an exceptional experience for tenants, guests and stakeholders. This position is part of the Manager-in-Training program, which has the intention of promoting candidates to a General Manager role within 1– 2 years, if the candidate remains employed, expectations of the program are met, and there exists a suitable open role. If they are, this may require you to relocate to that role, which may be located anywhere within the United States. If at that time, you are not willing or able to relocate, there may not be another open role, which may result in separation of employment at that time. If requested, reasonable accommodations will be made to enable employees with disabilities to perform the essential functions of their job, absent undue hardship.What You Will Do:Strategic Leadership & Property OperationsSupport the General Manager in developing a strong understanding of the asset market competition and stakeholder dynamicsAssist in executing the property's Five-Year Business Plan (5YP) learning to identify long-term opportunities and understanding strategic decision-makingHelp cultivate a positive workplace culture by supporting the GM in setting expectations communicating goals and monitoring performanceParticipate in developing and managing annual and multi-year operating and capital budgets and assist in analyzing financials to learn strategic fiscal managementContribute to maintaining a customer-focused shopping environment by supporting operational efficiencies, guest experience initiatives and resource-maximizing strategiesSupport cross-departmental collaboration-learning how to align on-site property priorities with corporate stakeholders and company KPIsAssist in managing operations service partners, vendor relationships and capital projects with a learning focus on ROI efficiency and sustainabilityFollow and help maintain compliance with safety environmental and accessibility regulations while learning regulatory requirementsParticipate in building and maintaining relationships with civic regulatory partners- observing and learning from the GM's interactionsAsset Management CollaborationSupport the GM in aligning property-level strategies with portfolio and 5YP objectivesAssist in tracking and communicating capital needs leasing updates and redevelopment prioritiesProvide support in gathering and sharing market and tenant insights that inform broader asset strategiesLeasing PartnershipAssist the GM in identifying local revenue opportunities such as sponsorships non-traditional uses and short-term leasingSupport lease administration tasks including rent collection adherence to lease terms and communication with tenants to resolve operational mattersProvide operational insights to Leasing and Specialty Leasing teams as directed by the GMMarketing Support & CollaborationAssist the GM in providing strategic oversight of marketing initiatives to ensure alignment with Foundational and Strategic Marketing prioritiesSupport the Marketing Manager's execution of programs that elevate tenant relations community engagement and traffic/sales performanceHelp integrate marketing efforts with leasing operations and tenant objectives to promote cohesive property resultsLearn to evaluate marketing performance using key metrics such as campaign impact tenant participation and alignment with 5YP goalsMust be able to return to the property within 30 minutes due to unforeseen circumstances or emergencies.
