Registered Nurse – Cardiovascular Operating Room (Anesthesia RN)

Contract | 13 Weeks | Full-Time | Onsite | Monday–Friday, Rotating Day Shifts | 40 Hours Guaranteed Per Week

Key Responsibilities

• Assist anesthesia providers across a variety of surgical specialties with a primary focus on the cardiothoracic program, including heart surgeries, traumas, elective surgeries, and general surgeries
• Support anesthesiologists with intubations, fiber optic scopes, arterial line placement, central lines, lumbar drains, and Swan-Ganz catheter placement using sterile technique
• Operate and manage specialized equipment including Cell Saver, Belmont, and Level I fluid warmers; set up and run medication pumps
• Perform circulating RN duties across assigned OR rooms (4–5 rooms per day) within a 21-OR facility covering all specialties
• Start IVs, draw labs, and assist with conscious sedation as needed
• Participate in on-call rotation: 1 night of call per week, 1 weekend per month, and 1 backup per week ; must be ready in the OR within 30 minutes of call — a personal vehicle is required

Required Qualifications

• Active Wisconsin RN License or valid Compact RN License
• AHA or ARC BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing (diploma required)
• Minimum 3+ years of OR experience with anesthesia experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Proficiency in Epic EMR; Cell Saver and Belmont experience required

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Strong CVOR circulating experience
• Prior experience with conscious sedation
• Demonstrated critical thinking skills with broad knowledge of all OR case types
• Flexible, resilient, and adaptable to change with a strong work ethic
