Goldsboro Builders Supply is seeking an energetic and results-driven Outside Sales Representative to join our growing team. What You'll Do:

Business Development & Sales

• Generate new business opportunities through proactive prospecting, networking, referrals, permit tracking, and market research.
• Develop and grow relationships with builders, contractors, remodelers, and other construction professionals.
• Promote and sell lumber, building materials, and related products to achieve sales and profitability goals.
• Deliver professional product presentations and recommend solutions that help customers improve project outcomes.
• Create accurate quotations, bids, and proposals that win business and grow market share.
• Negotiate and close sales opportunities while maintaining strong customer relationships.

Customer Relationship Management

• Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts.
• Build long-term partnerships through responsive communication and exceptional service.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
• Resolve customer concerns related to orders, deliveries, credits, returns, and product issues in a timely and professional manner.
• Act as a trusted advisor by educating customers on new products, technologies, and industry trends.

Industry & Market Knowledge

• Review blueprints and understand construction project phases to identify sales opportunities and recommend appropriate products.
• Monitor industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities.
• Maintain an in-depth knowledge of building materials, construction practices, and available product solutions.

Requirements:

 

Education

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate's Degree or higher preferred.
• Valid North Carolina Driver's License and reliable transportation required.

Experience & Skills

• Proven success in outside sales, preferably within the lumber, building materials, construction, or related industries.
• Strong communication, relationship-building, negotiation, and presentation skills.
• Demonstrated ability to achieve and exceed sales goals.
• Ability to read and understand residential and commercial construction plans and specifications preferred.
• Self-motivated, competitive, and results-oriented with a strong work ethic.
• Excellent organization, time management, and follow-through skills.
• Proficiency with CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and other business technology tools is preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent travel throughout the assigned territory.
• Ability to visit active construction sites and customer locations.
• Ability to occasionally lift and carry product samples and materials.
• Ability to work in office, warehouse, and outdoor jobsite environments.
