Job Title: Packaging Specialist I

Duration: 6 Months

Location: Athens, OH 45701

Work Schedule: Mon-Fri 7AM to 3:30PM

PR: $14 to $15.50

Summary: The Packaging Specialist I is responsible for supporting the packaging and assembly of products as required by the production schedule. Included are all production reagents which form the kit components, from the raw materials through to bottled and labeled finished goods.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

• Supports all packaging processes by following the work steps and instructions given by the Packaging Supervisor or equivalent.
• Satisfies due dates as specified in the Master Production Schedule with high-quality product at or below cost targets.
• Ensures all packaged and labeled components meet visual and integrity specifications by working closely with QC and other production persons.
• Conducts in-process checks and inspection of packaged product as required.
• Maintains an orderly and clean working environment.
• Responds to all audits of production areas in a pro-active, constructive manner by resolving deficiencies and implementing corrective actions.
• Works on assignments that are routine in nature, however, due to the large number of unique protocols/processes, position requires careful attention to detail and strict adherence to formally approved production documentation.
• Performs work with near perfect accuracy with no deviations from the accepted practices. Emphasis is placed on the methods to maintain control and achieve reproducibility, which is critical for compliance with company's System regulations.
• Carries out duties in compliance with established business policies.

Interactions:

• Interacts daily with the Packaging Supervisor, Manufacturing Manager, and other Packaging Specialists in identifying work schedule and activities. Interacts with QC for Line Clearances.

Work Environment:

• Work environment is a combination of manufacturing and laboratory settings

Physical Demands:

• Long hours are occasionally required in order to comply with the Master Schedule and manufacturing demands.
• Must have ability to manipulate packaging, ability to hear and operate laboratory machinery, and visually monitor products for Quality Standards.
• It is essential to maneuver easily throughout the laboratory environment and have the ability to lift a minimum of 30 lbs. Position requires standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time. Essential functions are subject to change as other duties may be assigned.

Education, Skills & Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent and/or a minimum of 1 year of related experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with current GMP and ISO quality regulations and comfort working in a highly structured, documented environment preferred.

Knowledge/Skills:

• Careful attention to detail and strict adherence to formally approved production documentation required.
• Familiarity with basic laboratory devices and equipment preferred.
• Flexibility with the ability to follow directions from a variety of people required.
• Organizational abilities required.
• Ability to work as a team player required.
