Engineering Technician

Bimotal's mission is to elevate human capability through motion technology. We build integrated powertrain and actuation products (motors, gearboxes, electronics, and software) for applications across robotics, mobility, and health. Our direct-to-consumer product, Elevate, is an easily retrofittable and removable powertrain that converts bicycles into ebikes. Elevate is a hit with customers, and it served as the proving ground for a new way of developing actuator products. Today, we partner with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to deliver high-performance products tailored to their needs. In particular, we are seeing a new wave of demanding applications in robotics. Role Description As an Engineering Technician at Bimotal, you will gain hands‑on experience prototyping, building, testing, and assembling world‑class hardware for Bimotal's electric powertrains. You'll join and learn from an experienced engineering team focused on exceeding the status quo for small powertrain performance on the way to transforming motion. Responsibilities Assemble, modify, service, troubleshoot, and test prototype and production hardware with engineering team's guidance Thoroughly document corresponding work Design and create custom tools, fixtures, and processes to improve assembly, testing, and analysis efficiency Design, fabricate, and assemble test machines to test various aspects of our products Run and collect data from the product test machines Analyze failures, tear down, reassemble, and repair electromechanical systems Qualifications 3+ years engineering technician experience, or equivalent hands‑on hardware assembly/diagnostics experience Skill with hand tools, manual machine tools, soldering, wiring, and additive/subtractive manufacturing for rapid prototyping Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality Excellent written and verbal communication, including technical writing and documentation skills Collaborative — works cohesively across a cross‑functional team Methodical problem‑solver, including with poorly defined problems Proficiency in MS Office and Google Workspace Preferred — SMT soldering and PCBA rework Preferred — CNC, welding, and advanced fabrication Competitive salary and equity packages - we want you to have real ownership in the work you do here Managed 401k program Office lunch provided Beautiful office location, walking distance to great food spots (2 blocks to our favorite burrito joint, Picante), Amtrak, and BART #J-18808-Ljbffr Bimotal
