About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Med Surg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00 - 19:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years Med Surg experience License: Active nursing license in good standing Certifications: BLS required, ACLS preferred, current NIH certification required annually Must-Have: Telemetry experience, post-Percutaneous Coronary Intervention experience Description: This is a 46-bed Medical/Surgical Unit with a patient ratio of 6:1. Staffing includes Clinical Nurse Coordinators, RNs, LPNs, Patient Care Technicians, Nurse Externs, and Unit Clerks. Staffing levels are based on patient census. Available equipment includes GE Apex Pro Telemetry boxes, Hoyer lifts, Sara Steady devices, Baxter IV pumps, iMobile, Alaris PCA IV pumps, Welch Allen Vitals machines, and Glucometers. The documentation system used is Meditech Expanse. Employees are required to work every other weekend and three 12-hour shifts per week. Floating may occur to a post-surgical Med/Surg unit or to staff tele overflow. The organization has received awards for quality care, including nursing excellence. Patient safety is a top priority, and patients are treated with compassion and care. General Med/Surg skills, EKG interpretation, CPAP management, and port access skills are required. Preferred skills include experience with chest tubes, NG tubes, wound vacs, drains, post-dialysis assessment skills, central lines, and blood transfusions. Procedures performed on the unit include telemetry monitoring and paracentesis. Staff must adhere to the following dress code: navy blue or gray scrubs. Any color or patterned scrub jacket is allowed, as well as any color or patterned long sleeve shirts under scrub tops. Royal blue scrubs are not permitted. Unit policies and guidelines related to skill sets and procedures will be made available upon request. The unit values interdisciplinary communication and collaboration with all providers. Continuous feedback is welcomed to enhance workflow and patient care. The unit is recognized for exceptional teamwork and patient care.
